Adopt Luke

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Luke is a lovely young male puppy who was rescued alongside his siblings and his mum, Lilly. He is part of a litter of seven — five boys and two girls — who were all given a safe and loving start in life after Lilly was rescued while pregnant and gave birth in our care. Luke is the boggest of the litter & expected to grow into a medium-sized dog when fully mature. approx 20-22kg He is a happy, friendly boy with a great appetite and a real love of his food. Luke’s enthusiasm makes him especially rewarding to train, as he is eager to learn and quick to engage. Alongside his love of mealtimes, he is affectionate, playful, and enjoys being around people. Like his siblings, he gets on well with other dogs and has a sociable, easygoing temperament. With his cheerful nature and food-motivated personality, Luke is sure to make a fun and loving companion for a lucky family. Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Luke

What life with Luke looks like

Luke is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
