adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lulu has found his own home! His story: Our handsome Lulu – since he was a puppy, he had been eagerly waiting at the public shelter in Baia Mare for an inquiry and finally got the chance to travel to a foster home in late August! Currently, Lulu is about 3 years old, measuring 46 cm in height and weighing 17 kg. A Labrador could fit inside him, which would suit his character, he will do anything for food. Additionally, Lulu is still very playful, curious, and loves to play – all that a young dog does. In his foster home, he is now learning what it's like to be a normal house dog. He is learning daily routines, taking part in family life, and going for regular walks, where he already walks nicely on a leash. He is very friendly with people, children should be dog-experienced or a bit older. He is calm and friendly with dogs, but he looks up to the existing first dog in many positive ways. For Lulu, we wish for a family that understands what it means to take in a dog that still doesn't know much. He will need time to settle in and will have to learn a lot. A pre-existing only dog could help him, but it is not necessary. Lulu should always be accompanied by positive reinforcement training. A visit to a positively working dog training class will certainly strengthen the bond between human and dog. Lulu is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He has an EU pet passport and is ready to be adopted. Do you give Lulu a home? He is looking forward to a visit in his foster home! Many thanks to Birgit D.! Thanks to you, Lulu has his beautiful name and thus a chance to find his family. Many thanks to the lovely pictures of Lulu! As of October 15.

Stand 15.10.2024

About Lulu

What life with Lulu looks like

Lulu is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lulu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lulu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lulu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lulu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lulu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lulu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lulu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
