Luma

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Luma was found on the street with her sister Kaly. She lives in a Romanian foster home in Baia Mare with a secure property and a dog pack, where she is at least protected from the dangers of street life. We do not know what the two sisters experienced before. Maybe they were abandoned one day and had to suddenly cope on their own, or maybe they have always lived on the street and struggled together for food, a safe place to sleep, and protection. For Luma, life on the secure property is a big step towards a better future. She can meet other dogs there, socialize, and grow up in a protected environment. But as nice as this security is, a foster home cannot replace a real home. Luma needs people who want to give her safety, love, and security forever. Luma is about 4 months old, impressively beautiful with a predominantly black and white coat. Her coat is mostly white with striking black areas and small dark and white spots. The cute, soft hanging ears give her a particularly sweet and gentle expression. Her big brown eyes look attentive, while her black nose perfectly rounds off her cute face. As an adult, Luma is expected to be medium to large. Our Luma is a very smart young female dog who already knows exactly what she wants. She is friendly to people and generally gets along well with other dogs. However, she clearly shows that this is important to her, and defends her meal against other dogs - a behavior that her future people should take seriously and accompany with calmness and management. Luma is probably a herding dog mix and could therefore bring typical characteristics of these dogs: They can be very attentive, intelligent, and eager to learn, and want to be mentally and physically busy. At the same time, they need clear orientation and a loving, consistent leadership, so that their intelligence and work ethic can lead to a harmonious coexistence. Although Luma has already gained some experience, moving to a new home will be a big change. New people, new smells, sounds, rooms, and daily routines - at first, many things will be foreign to her. She also needs to learn all the things that make a relaxed family dog: house training, leash training, basic commands, staying calm, staying alone, and much more. Luma needs people who give her the time she needs to get used to it. A loving and at the same time consistent upbringing will help her find security and orientation. Clear rules, fixed routines, and positive reinforcement give her a reliable framework in which she can develop. A visit to a positive dog school would be especially nice for Luma. There she could learn together with her people, use her skills and strengthen her bond with her caregivers. Especially with a clever dog like Luma, it is important to not only exercise the body, but also to keep the mind busy. Luma is still a young dog, but soon she will come into puberty. In this phase of development, young dogs become increasingly independent, test boundaries and can sometimes react less reliably than before. Even previously learned things sometimes seem to be forgotten again. This is part of normal development and needs above all patience, consistency, and understanding. Luma's people should lead her kindly, maintain rules consistently, and at the same time give her the opportunity to develop into a self-confident adult female dog. We wish Luma a very lovable and empathetic home that enjoys accompanying a young, intelligent, and strong-willed female dog on her way through life. People who appreciate her clever nature, give her security and orientation, and are willing to learn together with her. Luma still has her whole life ahead of her. We wish her people who see in her not only a beautiful young female dog, but a unique being with its own needs, talents, and ideas. If you are interested, please contact us or fill out the self-assessment form. We also cordially invite everyone who can offer a foster home to contact us. Your support and willingness to give a dog in need a loving home for the time being is a great help to us and the animals. Luma travels vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, and flea-free. She will be placed for a deposit and with a valid EU pet passport. Thank you Lia! You gave Luma her name and thus her own identity. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Luma

What life with Luma looks like

Luma is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
