Lumi

Female · Adult · 7 years

A FEMALE DOG named Lumi arrived at the animal shelter over three years ago as a very frightened dog who had not had good experiences with people. She was very distrustful of us and kept her distance for a long time. But she didn't waste any time! Over this time, she has made many canine friendships and now has a few true friends among the residents of the animal shelter. In the afternoon, when it becomes quiet, she goes out to the yard and transforms from a shy female dog into the leader of fun and antics. The boys always seek her company because they know that with Lumi you can never be bored! In the mornings, when there is no one on the paths around the animal shelter, Lumi spends time on a contemplative walk - she slowly follows the person, enjoys her freedom, silence, smells and peacefulness, and when this rural atmosphere starts to bore her, she usually joins her friends from the walking group. We dream of a home for the delicate and shy Lumi! Her stay at the animal shelter has lasted far too long. Lumi should live in a house with a garden outside the city, with people who have dogs, love walks in the wilderness, and will patiently wait for her trust. About Lumi

What life with Lumi looks like

Lumi is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs patient owners due to past trauma and fearful nature

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lumi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lumi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lumi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lumi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lumi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lumi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lumi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
