LUNA

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 2 years

Status: Found Breed: European Gender: Female Microchip: 967000010643825 Born: 15/08/2023 Country: Belgium At the shelter since: 09/04/2026 LUNA is a magnificent European cat, with an intense gaze and a fierce soul. She has lived outside for much of her life, which has shaped her independent, vigilant character... but also deeply dignified. She is a small survivor, a queen of escape, who has learned to protect herself above all. Her strengths and qualities: Clean - Despite her outdoor past, LUNA is perfectly clean. Independent - She copes very well with solitude and appreciates that her space is respected. Comfortable in transport - She behaves well in a car, a real plus for travel. Great adaptability - Used to outdoor life, she will find her bearings in a calm and safe environment. Her challenges and what you need to understand about her: Timid and defensive character - LUNA can become aggressive if approached too quickly or too closely. She needs time, gentleness, and a setting where she can observe before trusting. Unknown social skills - We do not yet know how she reacts to children, cats, or dogs. Need for outside - Having lived outside, she will be happier with a garden or secure outside access. LUNA will thrive with: patient adopters who respect her pace and limits, a calm home without young children, people ready to offer her outside access, someone who will see beyond her distrust to discover the beauty of her free soul. LUNA is not a "snuggle immediately" cat. She is a little wild one with a cautious heart, who needs to be tamed with gentleness. But those who know how to give her time to open up will discover an authentic, sensitive, and deeply touching companion. Want to give her a chance? If you think you are the person who will respect her story and offer her a peaceful future, contact us by phone. LUNA deserves a home where she can finally live in peace, at her own pace. Adoption is possible only with a "pet ownership permit" if you reside in Wallonia. For more information, please contact us exclusively by telephone at 02 204 49 50.

About LUNA

What life with LUNA looks like

LUNA is a young adult european shorthair dog waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting LUNA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about LUNA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw LUNA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt LUNA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is LUNA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if LUNA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know LUNA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
