adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Luna has found a home! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. Our sweet sisters Ruby and Luna are ready for their forever families! The two have not been able to experience much beauty in life yet. They were simply left in a box outside a large store in Bistrita. Animal welfare workers found them fortunately quickly and brought them to the shelter. Here they are safe for now, and our local helpers are doing what they can. But the shelter is obviously not an appropriate place for two such small girls. It is loud, dirty, and cold. That's why they are now desperately in need of a suitable forever home or foster home so they do not have to grow up in the shelter. Luna and Ruby are simply melt-in-your-hand. Our Luna wraps everyone around her paw with her cute appearance and great personality. Luna is despite her background an open, loving, and curious little girl. Her favorite activities include running, sniffing, playing, and cuddling – just puppy-like. Luna gets along well with all people and also children. Even her fellow animals are always greeted with friendliness. Cats can also live in the home with the right introduction. She is looking for a family to go through thick and thin with her. The one who shows her how wonderful long walks, excursions to the park, or cozy evenings on the couch are. Luna is currently around 3.5 months old and will likely grow to be small to medium-sized. Her new family should also be aware that Luna has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. Here she needs people who approach with lots of love and patience, and maybe also attend some positively working dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Luna will definitely be a great lifelong partner. We hope so much that she now gets to experience the beautiful sides of life and learns that there are people who only want her best. Luna is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Suse! You gave Luna her name.

Vielen Dank an Suse! Du hast Luna Ihren Namen geschenkt.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
