Luna

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

Ramona, a resident of Craiova, is dedicated to helping stray dogs in her community. She and her husband and daughter run a small shelter just outside Craiova, where they lovingly care for and socialize the dogs they rescue. On her way to work near Craiova's train station, Ramona spotted a small, playful dog playing with leaves that had fallen from a tree. Cars were passing by, and people walking by seemed not to notice her. Ramona knows all too well how unsafe it is for stray dogs on the streets. Danger lurks everywhere, from busy traffic to the notorious "dog catchers" who drive around. Ramona couldn't bear to see the little dog's fate and decided to take her home. She named her Luna. Since then, Luna has been living in Ramona's apartment, where she immediately thrived and enjoyed the loving attention she receives. Luna was found to have a "cherry eye," but fortunately, she underwent successful surgery. Luna's eyes are now perfectly fine. Luna has also had her vaccinations, is spayed, and has a microchip and passport. In other words, Luna is ready for her journey to the Netherlands. We are looking for a loving home where she can stay forever. It is unknown how Luna ended up on the street, but one thing is certain: she has had no bad experiences and is simply a happy, playful, and loving dog. Luna is under a year old and small in stature, but she has a huge heart and an incredible amount of love to give. Luna is learning what it means to live in a home and brings joy to Ramona and her family every day with her wonderful personality and endless positive energy. She loves to play, gets along well with other dogs, and is full of life.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Wereldhonden in Netherlands.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Wereldhonden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Wereldhonden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Wereldhonden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
