The Story of Simba: Simba was found as a puppy by one of the shelter's staff members. Simba grew into an adult dog and became one of the many long-stayers. The years flew by, and the puppy from back then is now a senior. The shelter had long stopped expecting that anyone would still be interested in Simba. The volunteers were therefore pleasantly surprised that we have been chosen to adopt Simba. Fortunately, the blood test is still valid, because the shelter has kept up the rabies vaccination every year. If you are even one day late, the blood test is no longer valid and you will have to repeat that expensive test before you may travel to Europe. To prepare Simba as well as possible, one of the volunteers takes her for a walk every Saturday. Simba is always happy to see people. She can startle easily in new situations, but it is easy to reassure her with your voice. Let's not forget that she came to us as a young puppy and knows no other life than that of the shelter. She does not like it when other dogs jump on her, especially when they are bigger. She speaks dog language very well and is clear in her communication with other dogs. Simba is a sweet dog, sometimes a bit jealous when it comes to sharing the scarce human attention. She enjoys going for walks and walks alongside without pulling. She responds very well to patience, kindness and encouragement. This little dog gives a lot of affection and will be very loyal to her new family. Het verhaal van Simba: Simba werd als pup gevonden door een van de medewerkers van het asiel. Simba groeide tot volwassen hond. en werd een van de vele langzitters. De jaren vlogen om en de pup van toen is nu senior. Het asiel had er al niet meer op gerekend dat er nog interesse voor Simba zou komen. De vrijwilligers waren dan ook blij verrast dat we Simba voor adoptie hebben uitgekozen. Gelukkig is de bloedtest nog steeds geldig, omdat het asiel elk jaar de rabiësvaccinatie heeft bijgehouden. Geef je die 1 dag te laat, is de bloedtest niet meer geldig en moet je die dure test opnieuw doen om naar Europa te mogen reizen. Om Simba zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden, gaat een van de vrijwilligers elke zaterdag met haar wandelen. Simba is altijd blij om mensen te zien. Ze kan snel schrikken in nieuwe situaties, maar het is gemakkelijk om haar gerust te stellen met je stem. Laten we niet vergeten dat ze als jonge pup bij ons is gekomen en geen ander leven kent dan dat van het asiel. Ze vindt het niet leuk als andere honden op haar springen, vooral als ze groter zijn. Ze spreekt de hondentaal prima en is duidelijk in haar communicatie naar andere honden. Simba is een lieve hond, soms wat jaloers als het gaat om de schaarse menselijke aandacht te delen. Vindt het fijn om mee te gaan wandelen en loopt mee zonder te trekken. Reageert heel goed op geduld, vriendelijkheid en aanmoediging. Dit hondje geeft veel genegenheid en zal heel trouw zijn aan haar nieuwe familie. Voor Simba zoeken wij adoptanten die al hondenervaring hebben en over voldoende tijd en geduld beschikken.
