Lupita

Mixed Breed · Female

Our animal welfare workers report: The long-legged Lupita lived as a street dog in South Spain. She fought for survival every day, always searching for food, water, and a safe place. Her specialty was rummaging through trash containers for something edible. Such a hard life on the streets. Lupita is still very young, so inexperienced, and has likely endured much. Eventually, she was secured by the local authorities and came to the animal shelter in Lleida. Here, the beautiful mixed-breed female dog can first recover. She has a secure sleeping place, gets regular food, and always has fresh water. This is already like a kingdom for the dear Lupita. Lupita is a friendly, young, large female dog. She likes people and is always good with the local caretakers. She enjoys being petted and stroked. She also gets along very well with the other dogs in the animal shelter. She is still playful and likes to dash out on the leash sometimes to play. She is still so young. It will take some time until she is fully grown. Now, the dear female dog is looking for a good home with patient people who want to show her everything in peace and provide her with a good home. Walking on a leash is already being practiced, but that will need to be expanded. Lupita is still not used to it. But she is a wonderful, cooperative female dog who simply wants to be there and finally arrive. Lupita was rehomed in Spain in May. Unfortunately, the family no longer has the time for the beautiful female dog and Lupita had to return to the kennel. How sad for the dear Lupita! Please note:

About Lupita

What life with Lupita looks like

Lupita is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lupita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lupita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lupita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lupita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lupita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lupita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lupita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
