Luzie

Chihuahua · Unknown · Senior · 9 years

Luzie is a loving, calm female Chihuahua mix, about 9 years old and weighing around 4 kg. She doesn't bark, is cuddly and uncomplicated. She gets along well with cats and small animals. She would certainly benefit from a loving, calm second dog. She can be left alone for two to four hours. Luzie is very well-behaved, listens well, and can also be led without a leash. She is absolutely clean and overall a true dream dog. However, she is also very sensitive. Originally, she came from poor husbandry at a breeder and is therefore a bit jumpy in hectic and noisy situations. She is afraid of children and stormy, lively dogs. She has a umbilical hernia that is manageable without surgery, as well as a tendency to eczema. Walks should be more leisurely – rushing is not her thing. She likes to sniff around and explore her surroundings and prefers to go at a leisurely pace. Therefore, she is not suitable for very active people. Luzie is vaccinated and microchipped. Additionally, her teeth have been regularly cleaned. Contact person/owner is Frau Dubois.

DE·Show original

Luzie ist eine liebe, ruhige Hundedame von etwa 9 Jahren und ein 4 kg schwerer, reinrassiger Chihuahua. Sie bellt nicht, ist verschmust und unkompliziert. Mit Katzen und Kleintieren ist sie verträglich. Von einem lieben, ruhigen Zweithund würde sie sicherlich sehr profitieren. Sie kann zwei bis maximal vier Stunden allein bleiben. Luzie ist sehr brav, hört ausgezeichnet und kann auch ohne Leine geführt werden. Sie ist absolut sauber und insgesamt ein wahrer Traumhund. Allerdings ist sie auch sehr sensibel. Ursprünglich stammt sie aus schlechter Haltung bei einem Vermehrer und ist deshalb bei Hektik und Lärm etwas schreckhaft. Vor Kindern sowie vor stürmischen, lebhaften Hunden hat sie Angst. Sie hat einen Nabelbruch, der ohne Operation gut handhabbar ist, sowie eine Neigung zu Ekzemen. Spaziergänge sollten eher gemütlich sein – schnell unterwegs zu sein ist nicht ihr Ding. Sie möchte schnüffeln, die Umgebung erkunden und in Ruhe unterwegs sein. Für sehr sportliche Menschen ist sie daher eher nicht geeignet. Luzie ist geimpft und gechippt. Außerdem wurden ihre Zähne regelmäßig gereinigt. Ansprechpartner/Besitzerin ist Frau Dubois display: none !important; .lSSlideOuter .lSPager.lSGallery {

About Luzie

What life with Luzie looks like

Luzie is a small senior chihuahua dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Porz in Köln.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luzie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luzie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Porz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luzie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luzie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Porz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luzie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luzie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Porz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luzie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
