Lydia

Bengal · Female · Adult · 8 years

Gorgeous, Lively and Loving girl Hi, my name is Lydia and I’m a pretty special girl. I am a Bengal so unlike other cats I’II need lots of stimulation and human companionship to keep me happy. I need lots of space to move and play in and a special, experienced owner/family who has the time to dedicate to my care and share in all my love. I was lucky to be found abandoned in an empty home so am looking for my forever home with someone to love. I had a severely infected wound and had to have considerable surgery but I have made an incredible recovery. My friends say I’m so full of love you would never guess the tough time I’ve had. I could happily live with older children but would need to be the only cat. Once settled in I would love a really nice, safe garden to explore. Think I’m the cat for you? Please come and meet me soon.

About Lydia

What life with Lydia looks like

Lydia is a adult bengal cat waiting at RSPCA Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lydia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lydia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lydia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lydia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lydia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lydia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lydia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
