Lyo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lyo has found a home! His story: Lyo is a sibling of a very special litter of puppies: the "Gang Seven"! This is not about the seven dwarfs behind the seven mountains. No! It's about seven wonderful puppy babies who were cruelly abandoned with their mother. And yes, it was behind the (seven) mountains, in the midst of the beautiful hilly landscape of Transylvania. Lyo and his seven mountain sibling siblings were lucky! An animal rescuer came across them and saw the lone puppy family, which was very hungry and thirsty. She managed to catch all eight treasures and bring them to safety: to our shelter in Fantanele. The mother was adopted by the animal rescuer, and the babies now eagerly wait behind bars in the shelter for people who will fall in love with them and give them a beautiful and species-appropriate home. Of course, it would also be nice if Lyo could first travel to a foster home. For here in the shelter, he learns nothing. Here, he only survives. But the little dwarf wants to experience a lot and wants to do so with his heart's people! We cannot say for certain which breeds have come together in the brown-black unicorns. The mother is likely a herding dog mix and stands at 40 cm. Lyo shows a typical puppy playfulness and openness towards people. He wants to play, run around, snuggle, and eat… and be happy! He will hopefully soon be happy in his family. Of course, a visit to puppy school is also included, where he can learn the dog basics playfully with positive reinforcement and continue to interact with other puppies. Lyo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. He brings his EU pet passport and can travel after a positive assessment. Do you want to be happy with Lyo? Then sign up quickly so he can escape the shelter. Many thanks, Franzi L.P.! Your nametag was the starting gun for a new life! As of: 07.09.

About Lyo

What life with Lyo looks like

Lyo is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lyo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lyo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lyo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lyo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lyo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lyo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lyo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
