Mabel

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Are you ready to meet your new best friend? It's me! 4 year old Mabel. My foster mum thinks that anyone who says cats don't show affection hasn't met me yet. And she's right! My favourite thing to do is sit at the landing window and watch for when you get home. When you do, I'll hop down and run to the front door to let you know how happy I am to see you. I really love my people! I'm ever such a sweet, affectionate girl and I love to have a stroke (or twenty), even showing off my tummy when I'm having a brush. The only time I'm a little bit spicy is when I'm having a manicure - a girl's got to have a line somewhere. I'll let you do it, but as far as I'm concerned it's wasted cuddle time. I love playtime too - chasing small toys, lure toys, and (the ultimate favourite) the laser pen. In fact, if I know where you've put it, I will pester you for more. There is no such thing as too much laser pen. My other favourite hobby is to have a nap on the stairs. I find that halfway up gives me the best vantage point for always knowing where you are so that I can make sure there's no trip hazards in your way. I'm quite a petite girl with beautiful tortoiseshell markings and enormous kitten eyes - all the better for asking for more fuss. And they're quite handy for my day job: queen spider catcher! I'm ready and prepared for any task at hand and become transfixed by a printer churning out paper. I think it's fair to call it a love/hate relationship though as I'm never sure whether I'm terrified or whether it's a fantastic game that's just waiting to be figured out. I'm a pretty confident and curious girly so I'm not afraid to keep on watching until I've made my mind up. On to the most important thing you should know about me: I ADORE food. Honestly, for such a petite cat I really love to eat. When you're getting my breakfast or dinner ready, I'm first to the table, purring, cuddling, and just generally making a nuisance of myself in my absolute excitement and appreciation of the

About Mabel

What life with Mabel looks like

Mabel is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Catitude Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mabel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mabel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Catitude Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mabel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mabel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Catitude Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mabel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mabel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Catitude Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mabel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
