Madri

Collie · Female · Adult · 7 years

Madri is a sweet but shy girl who came to the centre via an inspector as part of a multi dog prosecution case, after legal proceedings have been finalised we are now able to find Madri the loving, stable home she deserves. Madri has sadly led a very sheltered life before she came to the centre, this has left her quite nervous around new people and adjusting to new environments. Madri is very anxious near busy roads and spaces, we have been working hard building up her confidence alongside our behaviourist. She will need experienced adopters who are willing to continue with her training. Adopters will need to do multiple meets at the centre with Madri to build up a bond with her before taking her home. They must also agree to meet with the centres behaviourist to help make the transition in to a new home run as smoothly as possible. We are looking for adopters who live in a village / rural location, away from busy roads, she needs a home where she will have her own secure garden to play in as she will need to be kept on lead until her confidence has grown and she has settled. Once Madri knows you she is an extremely, loving and loyal girl, she will always look to you for support when she is feeling a little anxious. Madri will make a wonderful pet for the family lucky enough to adopt her Madri is best suited to being the only dog in an adult only home.

About Madri

What life with Madri looks like

Madri is a adult collie dog waiting at RSPCA York Home in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Madri, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Madri?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Madri on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Madri if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA York Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Madri already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Madri isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Madri and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
