Madzia

Mixed Breed · Female

Madzia is a female dog who hasn't had an easy start in life. She still associates humans with something unknown and frightening. She is afraid of people, and the sight of leashes, collars or harnesses literally paralyzes her. In situations she perceives as threatening, she tries to run away, convinced that harm could come to her. Every day we work on helping her regain a sense of security and understand that the world doesn't have to be full of fear. It's a long process requiring patience, calmness and great sensitivity. Despite this, we don't lose hope - we believe there is someone out there waiting for her who will give her as much time as she needs. However, something completely changes Madzia - the company of other dogs. In their presence, she flourishes. On the runway, she runs, jumps, plays and shows her cheerful, joyful nature. The companionship of dogs gives her a sense of security and confidence, so it would be ideal if a calm, balanced canine companion were waiting for her in her new home. We are looking for a special home for Madzia - peaceful, patient and full of understanding. We believe that this could be the place where she will feel true safety, peace and love for the first time. A place where she dares to trust humans and open her heart. Maybe you can give Madzia a chance at a new, happy life?

PL·Show original

To długi proces, wymagający cierpliwości, spokoju i ogromnego wyczucia. Psie towarzystwo daje jej poczucie bezpieczeństwa i pewność siebie, dlatego idealnie byłoby, gdyby w nowym domu czekał na nią spokojny, zrównoważony psi towarzysz.

About Madzia

What life with Madzia looks like

Madzia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Czekadełko in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Madzia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Madzia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Czekadełko handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Madzia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Madzia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Czekadełko will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Madzia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Madzia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Czekadełko early rather than rehoming privately; they know Madzia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
