Maggie

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 1 year

Maggie is a calm lady who is somewhat wary at first. She enjoys discovering her surroundings at her own pace and building trust in both herself and her people. Maggie can be won over with a little treat. Once she is used to you, she clearly enjoys attention and you may gently stroke her. With lengthy head rubs she shows that she is enjoying herself. When Maggie has had enough attention, she will make this clear. It is important that her people respect these boundaries and give her space when she needs it. Maggie will eventually seek contact again herself. Changes and unfamiliar situations can be quite scary for Maggie. In those moments she likes to find a safe spot for a little while to collect herself. For Maggie we are looking for a stable and predictable household of 1 to 2 people, without children or other pets. With plenty of love, patience and respect for Maggie's needs, she will grow into a lovely, loyal companion. After an adjustment period, Maggie would like to go outside to explore the calm, green surroundings. Go back

NL·Show original

Ga terug

About Maggie

What life with Maggie looks like

Maggie is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Dierentehuis Arnhem in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maggie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maggie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Arnhem handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maggie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maggie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Arnhem will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Maggie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maggie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Arnhem early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maggie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
