Adopt Maho – SOS

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Hi, my name is Maho, a sweet old grandpa dog! I love cuddles and being taken care of. I'm a big foodie and eat hypoallergenic dry kibble to protect my sensitive skin from the shelter staff. If you notice that my face isn't perfectly symmetrical, that's normal; it looks like I might have hit a door, but it's because I have left-sided hemiplegia (which doesn't bother me)! On walks, I tolerate other dogs but would prefer to be the only one in my future home, where I like to be the sole little prince. I wasn't accustomed to wearing a muzzle in my previous life, even though it's required by law, so I'll need to be gradually trained to do so. Don't judge me by my breed from reading this ad; I'm a big, adorable old guy who just wants a warm home and a soft bed. Conditions for a Category 2 dog: Pre-adoption meeting with the shelter manager. Proof of suitability. Civil liability attestation. Possession of a pet detention permit. Rabies vaccination. Muzzle and leash required in all public places.

About Maho – SOS

What life with Maho – SOS looks like

Maho – SOS is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at LPA Nord de la France in Lille.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maho – SOS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maho – SOS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. LPA Nord de la France handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maho – SOS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maho – SOS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — LPA Nord de la France will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maho – SOS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maho – SOS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with LPA Nord de la France early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maho – SOS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
