Adopt Maiden

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Maiden was born, approximately, in 2023. She is part of the last rescue we conducted, in which we rescued seven dogs from a place where they lived abandoned among rubble, trash, and much dirt in the yard of a house. They had little contact with people and no veterinary attention. Maiden, Trufa, Pipa, Winky, Jack, Nono, and Tango lived among rubble and trash in the yard of a house. They had no contact with the outside world or other people, so their rescue was truly difficult as they would run and hide whenever they saw us enter. They were very afraid of people as we were completely unknown to them. Thanks to a woman who was going to feed them, we were able to rescue them all, and they are now healthy and safe in our animal shelter. An animal is a responsibility that many people still do not understand, but we are going to try to change the lives and continue offering new opportunities to the animals we can. Maiden is a Bodeguero Ratonero terrier of medium-small size. At first, she was shy as is normal after living isolated, but she is beginning to approach us more and allow us to show her affection. She has a calm and tranquil character, typical of an adult female dog. She has never been on a leash nor does she know what a walk is, so we are taking her along, just like the rest that come from the same place, little by little. We believe she is the mother of Trufa and Pipa. Maiden is provided with a microchip, a passport, up-to-date vaccinations, and tests for Erlichia, Anaplasma, Heartworm, and Leishmania. Additionally, she is spayed.

About Maiden

What life with Maiden looks like

Maiden is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at El Refugio Escuela Marlene in Seville.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maiden, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maiden?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Refugio Escuela Marlene handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maiden on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maiden if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Refugio Escuela Marlene will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maiden already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maiden isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Refugio Escuela Marlene early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maiden and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
