adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Maila has found a home! Her story: 08523 Plauen. Maila is ready for her final home! Maybe it's with you? Originally from Romania, Maila lived with her mother and siblings on a private property there and had already met children and cats. Maila is a loving, rather quiet young female dog. She is currently in her 9th month, right in the middle of puberty. She often raises her ears and sometimes forgets what she has already learned. She also tries to test her boundaries at the moment. But all of this is quite normal during puberty. Her people need a lot of empathy, patience, and a bit of humor during this phase of life. To get through this well, consistent, loving training is needed. With the help of a positively working dog training class, the relationship between the dog and her human can be strengthened. Maila is always friendly but also very stormy about it. She likes fellow animals and wants to play with them. On the leash, she shows that she wants to go there. She barks and pulls on the leash. Without distractions, Maila already walks well on the leash. We cannot rule out that Maila has a prey drive. At the moment, she is very interested in cats, birds, and mice. Maila is about 50-55 cm tall, and she could still grow a little. She is curious, brave, and intelligent. She has already learned some basic commands, she is house-trained, and she can jump into the car by herself. However, she does not find car rides so great. Maila can only stay alone for a limited time, she still has a lot of loss of fear. Our Maila gets special food because she has a food intolerance. She was also recently tested positive for Babesia. Further tests are still pending. But in general, it can be well treated if recognized early. Maila is a dream dog and fits every family. Children should already be older, stand firm, and be accustomed to respectful dog handling. We can also imagine a sovereign single dog or an individual person. Maila needs regular physical and mental exercise. She also has a lot to learn. Maila's people should have the desire and time to work with her and to properly exercise her. Maila is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has an EU pet passport and will only be sent after a positive response. Many thanks to Louisa K.! You gave Maila her beautiful name!

Vielen Dank Louisa K.! Du hast Maila ihren schönen Namen geschenkt!

About Maila

What life with Maila looks like

Maila is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
