adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this dog! Mailo has found a home! His story: Here comes the always cheerful Mailo! One must simply fall in love with him.. The young male dog was one day found alone and limping by the roadside, but fortunately could be rescued and treated. Now Mailo is doing well again and is waiting in a Romanian foster home to be seen and finally discover the big wide world! Mailo is a very handsome young male dog who finds people delightful and is extremely compatible with his fellow animals. He loves cuddles and has immediately integrated well into his surroundings. Our little stud Mailo also behaves impeccably at the vet and even during grooming. One wants to be beautiful, after all! Due to his calm and composed temperament, he can probably fit in well anywhere. Mailo is a medium-sized dog at 55 cm and about 22 kg, perfect for all life situations. He is already a pro at walking on a leash and is allowed to peek inside his Romanian foster home, but unfortunately lives mostly outside. For Mailo, we are looking for a loving family that will give him time to adjust and share life with him. As the fluffy puppy is very people-oriented and attentive, learning together with him will surely be easy and both human and dog will have a great time. A visit to dog training classes would certainly be a good support to get everything in order and explain his new, species-appropriate dog life to him. Mailo travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms to his new home and of course has the necessary papers – his EU pet passport – with him. He can also be a valuable foster home to escape the cold Romanian winter and finally get started! As of: 31.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Man(n) will ja schön sein! Stand: 31.12.2025

About Mailo

What life with Mailo looks like

Mailo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mailo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mailo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mailo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mailo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mailo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mailo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mailo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
