Adopt Maio

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

Maio and LAIA are the offspring of MEDUSA, a supermom who gave birth safely with us and cared for them with love, tenderness, and diligence. Maio is playful, energetic, and great, he loves the cat-like posture for sleeping and running around the whole room, playing with all his feline friends and loves dogs too. LAIA is very shy, she feels comfortable allowing her own pace of receiving cuddles or "being on her own terms". From time to time, she needs a nebulizer like "Ventolin" because she had a respiratory problem treated like asthma. She is small in size, she loves to sleep, gets along well with other cats, and without a doubt, her brother Maio is the one she gets along with the most. If you want to adopt one of them (did you know that two or more cats are beneficial for them and for us?????), contact us right away! so they can have a wonderful family to know love and home!???? About Maio

What life with Maio looks like

Maio is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Defensa Animal Palentina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
