Adopt Maisie

Poodle · Female · Adult · 6 years

Maisie is a gorgeous girl who has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for the loving forever home she deserves. She is a friendly, playful little lady with the sweetest nature and is always happy to come over for fuss and some affection. Maisie is looking for a loving adult only home with adopters who have plenty of time to spend with her. She will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to be her friend, role model, and playmate. She cannot be homed with cats or small furries. Maisie has recently moved into a foster home where she has settled beautifully and has truly flourished. Despite never having lived in a home before, she has embraced home life with enthusiasm. She is doing wonderfully with her house training, is already around 90% house trained, and is clean overnight. She has also learned all about walking on a lead and harness and now thoroughly enjoys her walks. She greets her fosterer each morning with the most adorable smile and enthusiastic bum wiggle, which is so sweet. She gets on well with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys their company. She loves her toys and she can often be found playing with them and entertaining herself. Maisie has taken to family life so well that she loves being close to her people and can become stressed when left alone and can cry and howl. Her fosterer has been working on this with her and she is already making improvements, but her new family will need to continue to work on this, gradually building up the time that she is left. She will be looking for a home where she can sleep in her fosterers bedroom with them. Maisie's fosterers have noted that she can display some resource guarding behaviors around high value items such as bones and tasty treats. These behaviours are only towards other dogs and she is fine to let humans touch the treats. This has been easily managed in her foster home, but her adopters will need to continue sensible management of this behaviour in her new home. For this reason, Maisie will be looking for an adult only home, though she has met children of various ages well. She is a delightful little girl who has embraced her second chance at life with both paws. She will make a wonderful companion for a patient, loving family who can continue helping her grow in confidence and enjoy everything that home life has to offer. Maisie has had three teeth extracted and was already missing two when she arrived. She also came into our care with dermatitis, which is being managed and monitored to keep her comfortable. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Maisie

What life with Maisie looks like

Maisie is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maisie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maisie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maisie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maisie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maisie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maisie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maisie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
