MAJA

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

S.O.S.! Maja is at the Bácsalmás dog pound, and her quarantine has expired. That's why it's very urgent that she gets out of there by finding an owner. Maja is a very beautiful female German Shepherd of about 5 years old. She was a stray and had no microchip. Her vaccination program has started, and she is in the process of being spayed. As a large-framed female, she weighs around 40 kg. She may have been abused, as she shows all the signs of it. She is fearful, but once she sees good intentions she quickly opens up and showers you with grateful kisses for petting. We are looking for a patient, loving owner or family for Maja, where her little soul can continue its rehabilitation. She has been tested with other dogs, and there were no problems with Maja, so she would also be suitable as a playmate for another dog. We would like to place her for adoption with a family as a family member, after a preliminary home check. Maja is currently located in Bács-Kiskun county, at the Bácsalmás dog pound. Contact: we would kindly ask you to send an introductory letter via Messenger to Lili Hajdú, describing where and how the rescued dog would live with you; or alternatively, please send an email to the address cnjalapitvany.com. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001385020967

S. O. S.! Szukának nagy termetű, 40 kg körüli a súlya. Tehát játszópajtásnak is alkalmas lenne másik kutyus mellé. Családtagnak szeretnénk őt örökbe adni, előzetes környezettanulmány után. Maja jelenleg tehát Bács-Kiskun vármegyében, a bácsalmási ebrendészeti telepen található. Kapcsolat: Messengeren bemutatkozó levelet kérnénk küldeni Hajdú Lilinek arról, hogy hol, hogyan élne a mentett kutya a jelentkezőnél; vagy pedig e-mailt kérnénk küldeni a cnjalapitvany. com címre. facebook. com/profile. php? id=100001385020967

About MAJA

What life with MAJA looks like

MAJA is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at CNJ Állatvédő Egyesület in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAJA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAJA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. CNJ Állatvédő Egyesület handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAJA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAJA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — CNJ Állatvédő Egyesület will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is MAJA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAJA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with CNJ Állatvédő Egyesület early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAJA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
