Maja

Female · Senior · 9 years

Maja is already in her senior years, but apparently she doesn't seem to care at all. There is still room for joy, curiosity about the world, and that characteristic spark usually associated with puppies, not senior dogs. This female dog is extremely calm and people-oriented. Being around people brings her great pleasure - being close, taking a walk together or just being nearby is a true happiness for her. We know that she was previously a house dog and lived with a cat, so home life is not foreign to her, and a new life should not be a big challenge for her. During walks, Maja shows her true, very energetic nature. She happily moves forward, runs, approaches for play, carries sticks and toys, and when there is a patch of greenery - she happily rolls in the grass, as if wanting to absorb every moment. This is a dog whose everyday life simply becomes more pleasant. The female dog still needs to take care of her figure and lose a few extra kilograms, but with her love of movement and walks, it will certainly be possible. However, the most important thing is that she has a huge amount of love and a willingness to share it with someone every day. We are looking for a home for her where she can be herself - a joyful, warm companion of ordinary days, which will become truly special because of her.

PL·Show original

About Maja

What life with Maja looks like

Maja is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Overweight, needs diet and exercise

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
