Adopt Maka

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 6 years

Her story is just another of neglect and abandonment. Neighbors of a building alerted us about a cat in terrible conditions. Thinking of a poor feral cat colony cat who might be sick, we went to try to help her. The surprise was enormous when we saw how she was being treated and how she was. She had a lot of pus in both eyes, couldn't breathe through her nose due to mucus, and had a wound on her chin from which dozens of worm larvae were feeding on her alive. This poor kitten must have fallen from a balcony or window sometime ago (the cat parachute syndrome), given the injuries on her jaw and palate, which were almost healed but clearly no one had looked for her... After being treated by the vet, she is almost fully physically recovered, now it's the hardest wounds to heal, those of the soul. She seems to be around 5 years old by her mouth and we would like for her, once recovered, to have the life she deserves in a home and not become invisible in a room of the animal rescue association. Could we work a miracle?

About Maka

What life with Maka looks like

Maka is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Protectora de Animales de Segovia in Segovia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora de Animales de Segovia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora de Animales de Segovia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora de Animales de Segovia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
