Adopt Makaio

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Makaio has found a home! His story: Busag, Romania. Dackelfreunde on alert. 4 little Dackel puppies are looking for a home. Makaio, Pumba, Blitz, and Sony were found by loving animal rescuers and brought to Busag. Here they live with many other dogs and are currently in safety. The 4 boys are a bit reserved at the moment. But they can be picked up and enjoy being stroked. Makaio, at 26 cm and weighing around 7 kg, carries unmistakably the characteristic Dackel genes within him, which explain his unmistakable look with short legs and a long body. This breed is not only known for its cute appearance but also for its playful, attached, and intelligent character. The energy, independence, and present sense of smell make him also a fascinating companion. Appropriate stimulation according to his needs is important for his well-being. Wearing a leash and harness is still unknown to them. With gentle guidance, he will not only build trust with his owners but also playfully learn the basics of being a house puppy. We wish the little Makaio a loving family that shows him how an appropriate dog life works. Walks, sniffing games, and cuddle hours would surely make him happy. In the first year of life, puppies should be left alone as little as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is still ahead. And it affects every dog, whether small or large, boy or girl. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They “forget” often everything they have learned so far, and the ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to train consistently—but lovingly. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! The cute Makaio could be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport after a positive adoption. We thank the Penny Parade of the Ernst-Barlach-School in Munich for the name sponsorship!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Makaio hat sein Zuhause gefunden! Seine Geschichte: Busag, Rumänien. Dackelfreunde aufgepasst.

About Makaio

What life with Makaio looks like

Makaio is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Makaio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Makaio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Makaio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Makaio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Makaio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Makaio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Makaio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
