Maks (Макс)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Max — a summer terrier, whom a man found in a pit in the village of Chaply near Dnipro. How long he sat there, nobody knows. When Max arrived at our shelter, he was literally covered in skin. He had come very exhausted and weakened. During the examination, it was found that Max had a third-stage heart insufficiency. Due to this, he has a constant heart cough. Despite the diagnosis, Max did not lose his love for life. During his stay with us, he gained weight well and now weighs 15 kg. Doctors advise going on a diet, but Max does not like this idea at all. Max is a very wise dog. It seems his life has been complicated and not always easy. That is why we really want him to spend his years not in the walls of an animal shelter, but at home, with a person who will love him. His treatment is lifelong but not complicated. Twice a day, he needs to take heart medication, and once every six months, he needs to undergo an ultrasound of the heart and take blood tests. We really do not want our home dog to end his path in an animal shelter. Max deserves his own home, a soft bed, and a person with whom he will be at peace and well.

UK·Show original

About Maks (Макс)

What life with Maks (Макс) looks like

Maks (Макс) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Dnipro in Ukraine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maks (Макс), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maks (Макс)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Dnipro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maks (Макс) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maks (Макс) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Dnipro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maks (Макс) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maks (Макс) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Dnipro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maks (Макс) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
