Adopt Mali

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

A funny terrier lady is currently capturing the hearts of animal welfare workers at Dolmen Animal. The one-and-a-half-year-old (as of May 2021) Jack Russell mix lady Mali suddenly appeared one day in front of a supermarket in a business district, searching for affection and food. A local resident took the friendly fun machine home, but due to various reasons, she cannot really take care of her. As unfortunately still very common in Southern Europe, she left Mali alone in the morning on the (heavily trafficked) street and hoped she would return in the evening. One of our partners observed this and spoke with the woman, who immediately agreed to give up Mali if we could find her a new, better home. With such a funny and intelligent mix like Mali, I don't worry much that she will have to wait long, and I'm already looking forward to reading where she will finally end up and where she will begin her adventure as a family dog. Mali is playful and loves to run around unrestrained, and the animal welfare workers lovingly call her "loca," which means a little crazy, but that only makes Mali even more amusing. This lively girl has already lived with several cats, she finds children as great playmates, she knows life in an apartment and is now waiting to embark on her journey to happiness immediately. Have you already fallen in love with our small crazy cuddle ball? Then please contact us and find out how Mali can enrich your life soon ...

About Mali

What life with Mali looks like

Mali is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mali, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mali?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mali on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mali if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mali already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mali isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mali and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
