Malia (w)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Malia was born in September 2021, is about 50 cm tall, and lives in the private animal shelter of the Ador association in Botoșani. 🇷🇴 She was found as a small female puppy together with her four siblings. Three of them were able to travel abroad long ago. Malia and her brother stayed behind. And then, what often happens in animal shelters: cute puppies turned into adult dogs that no one wants anymore. Malia has now been behind bars for almost five years. 💔🐾 Our animal protectors from Germany have visited her for the second time – and left with heavy hearts. Because Malia can barely endure this life anymore. She now runs circles in her enclosure. Continuously. Because she no longer knows what to do with herself and her hope, which she probably no longer has. She cannot be let out with other dogs because she is bullied due to her insecurity in the open run. The risk for her would be too great and there is simply not enough staff to permanently protect her. Therefore, she now lives in a small enclosure with another shy dog. When people come, Malia initially hides in her hut. But she comes out again. Slowly. Cautiously. As if somewhere in her there is still the thought that maybe something could change. ✨🤍 Malia has never been aggressive. She lets herself be touched and stroked, even though she crouches and is afraid. We do not know what experiences she has had. But we see a dog who, despite everything, has not given up. For Malia, we are not looking for someone with pity. Pity does not help her. We are looking for someone with a heart, intelligence, patience, and time. 🐕🫶 Someone without expectations. Someone with dog experience who understands that trust cannot be demanded but must grow. A sovereign only dog may be present, but it is not a must. What Malia needs most is finally the chance to leave the enclosure behind. She needs someone who takes her by the paw and shows her that the world can be more than concrete, bars, and fear. 🌱 We believe in Malia. 🤍 Now we hope for the person who also believes. 🏡 ℹ️ MALIA is spayed, vaccinated multiple times, dewormed, microchipped, and naturally in possession of an EU passport.

——————————————— 📍

About Malia (w)

What life with Malia (w) looks like

Malia (w) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Malia (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Malia (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Malia (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Malia (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Malia (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Malia (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Malia (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
