Adopt Maliah

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

The active and cheerful Maliah, who grew up in Bulgaria, quickly settled into her foster home. From the very beginning, she sought closeness with all family members and truly enjoys cuddle time. At home, she is calm and relaxed, independently finding her favorite spot where she rests peacefully. Maliah is house-trained and can be left alone when other dogs are already present—she spends most of that time sleeping. Sufficient exercise is a prerequisite for this. Outside, she can be very agile and absolutely loves doing short sprints around the garden. She’s a wonderful companion on walks, walking very well on a leash, attentively taking in her surroundings and calmly observing passing people and dogs. Maliah really enjoys car rides, though she gets excited at first and whines for the first few minutes. She loves being outdoors and lounging on the terrace, where she can comfortably watch her surroundings and nap in the sun. She also joins the other dogs in alertly barking to announce visitors or similar happenings. She responds very well to her name, comes promptly, and is always ready to do something with her humans—whom she values more than fellow animals. Therefore, it’s not essential for her new family to have another dog, although she would certainly be suitable as a second dog since she knows canine communication inside and out. However, her new home should ideally be in a rural area. Maliah wouldn’t mind older children at all. Maliah is currently being cared for in a foster home. If you’re interested, please feel free to contact us at the animal shelter. We’ll advise you and then arrange contact with the foster home.

03841 - 79 01 79

About Maliah

What life with Maliah looks like

Maliah is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Dorf Mecklenburg in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maliah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maliah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Dorf Mecklenburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maliah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maliah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Dorf Mecklenburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maliah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maliah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Dorf Mecklenburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maliah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
