Mallow

Mixed Breed · Female

Blossom and Mallow came to us together with their mom Twigs after she ran away from a man who actually would have liked to keep the delicate kitten with the big eyes. But it turned out that Twigs was "in other circumstances," and our animal friend did not feel up to a whole cat family. Therefore, the two kitten girls have grown up on one of our foster sites. This "comfort zone" was also necessary because the beautiful duo needed a lot of rest and a rather long period of reflection on what we two-legged beings should think. After Twigs found a new home, her daughters moved into our Miezhouse, where they have been waiting for their new people for much too long. They need to be: patient. Although the red-black Blossom and her sister Mallow, who is completely black, are not as shy as "real" feral cats that have never formed a bond with humans, they are still very shy and reserved around strangers. They had to learn that petting can be a real pleasure, and they are still a little unsettled when they are touched. Anyone who wants to provide a home for these pretty girls, where they can shed their last fears and build a healthy portion of self-confidence, must be prepared for their new life partners to need a little more time to build trust with their people. But the love will be deeper and more lasting later. It is important that Blossom and Mallow stay together so they can give each other support in their new world. Since the shy ladies react particularly insecurely to the unknown, their new home should be very quiet, and their people should also go through life without a lot of noise and fuss. Ideally, the two-legged ones have some cat experience. This is especially true for children in the household, who should be a little older and very considerate. Other animals do not need Blossom and Mallow for their happiness. Blossom and Mallow can live in an apartment suitable for living, provided there is enough space for them. They could also explore the outside world after a – likely longer – adjustment phase, if this is safe. For more information: 0157 – 52 68 76 61. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Weitere Informationen: 0157 – 52 68 76 61.

About Mallow

What life with Mallow looks like

Mallow is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mallow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mallow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mallow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mallow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mallow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mallow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Neuwied e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mallow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
