Adopt MALO

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Male, 2 years and 7 months, 23 kg (overweight), Mixed breed with short coat, Origin: Spain, Available for adoption in Switzerland, Current location: Andalusia, Spain, in a boarding facility at our expense. Arrival at the adoption home: Friday, May 15, 2026. Our dogs only travel outside of Spain when they are adopted. Before any adoption process, please read our Arrival Process, Conditions, and Adoption Fees in the ADOPTER menu. Our little MALO has been waiting for a family for months, we are sad for him. This lively mixed breed with bright eyes and always alert ears is a joyful and sincere pup. Russian Terrier type, he has an irresistible mix of honesty and curiosity: he says what he thinks, explores everything that moves, and never goes unnoticed. He is a bit round and will need to get back in shape, but that only adds to the charm of this little dog who loves life and playtime. Despite a positive test (very low) for leishmaniasis, MALO is closely monitored, under treatment, and is doing very well. He shows no symptoms and lives his life fully, with contagious energy and a joy of living. MALO will make you fall in love, he brings along a calm confidence and a huge, warm, and positive heart. He is looking for a family that will appreciate his character, share his games, and respect his independent side. In return, MALO will give you all his loyalty, enthusiasm, and presence full of life and humor. His story: Almeria shelter / rescue and care by Cœurs de Chiens. With people: Yes. Other dogs: Yes. Children: Test upon request, but if approved we will be attentive to minimum age of 10 years, calm, respectful, and familiar with dogs. Cats: Test upon request. Special features: MALO is positive for Canine Leishmania infantum, under treatment. All information about this parasitic disease from the south will be communicated transparently. Contact us. Adopter profile: Responsible, committed people, dedicated to the cause of adoption. With patience and understanding, suitable living environment, availability and presence. All dogs we place will need time to adapt (some will be faster than others). You will need to provide your new companion with the basics, education, and socialization that he will still need. If there is outdoor space, it must be securely fenced and well anchored to the ground. Height depending on the size and energy of the dog. Some very busy urban areas with noise, traffic, and people are often too stressful for the dogs we place. We review each application and will be able to advise you. Important: Our little MALO is positive for Canine Leishmania infantum, he is under treatment. ******************************************** Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease that can be scary, but in reality: • many dogs live a perfectly normal life • with regular veterinary check-ups • and appropriate treatment • this infection/disease is not contagious between dogs or to humans. We know Leishmaniasis very well, several of our dogs have been adopted with this condition, we regularly monitor them. We are able to inform you objectively and professionally, contact us.

About MALO

What life with MALO looks like

MALO is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting MALO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MALO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MALO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MALO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MALO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MALO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know MALO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
