Adopt Mamba

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Kitten · 4 months

Mamba came to us along with her kittens, found in the area of Leipzig. The kittens have found a home, but Mamba has not yet. Mamba has always been a rather quiet cat, which needs time to gain trust. After appropriate acclimation time and without pressure, Mamba can also enjoy cuddles. Mamba's eye tends to tear slightly, probably the leftover of an old cold. She is vaccinated and therefore has no problems. Because she is sensitive to mites, she receives a remedy from us regularly and has had no problems since then. She is rather quiet, patience is needed for her acclimation, experience with cats is an advantage. She is looking for a quiet household, preferably with other animals, but it is not absolutely necessary. Similarly, she would enjoy free roaming if possible, but she would also feel comfortable in an apartment suitable living environment. This cat is to be kept indoors only. This is a puppy.

About Mamba

What life with Mamba looks like

Mamba is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mamba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mamba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mamba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mamba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mamba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mamba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mamba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
