Mambo

Male · Senior · 12 years

Health status: He is deaf, and he has age-related degeneration of the heart valves (no need to take medication).Mambo has ended up at the shelter three times already. During his first stay, he found a loving home where he spent several years. Unfortunately, his caregiver suffered such a severe health decline that he could no longer care for Mambo. Three stays at the shelter is a lot for one dog.Mambo, although he carries some terrier ancestry in his genes, has become much calmer with age. He enjoys going for walks, during which he loves to explore—and often demands treats! He doesn’t pull on the leash, and street traffic and people passing by don’t bother him at all. He’s already participated several times in the Kejterka and Kejtrówka marches, where he handled both his surroundings and other canine companions with ease.Unfortunately, Mambo isn’t fond of grooming or veterinary procedures, but we believe that with the right approach and plenty of patience, he can learn to accept some of them. He’s not the cuddly type, but he’ll certainly be a loyal companion for walks and evenings on the couch.Mambo needs a person who is calm and patient. For Mambo, we’re looking for a home that:– understands a dog’s needs and gives him space– might get along with a calm, unobtrusive dog– is free of small children

PL·Show original

Mambo trafił do schroniska aż trzy razy. Podczas pierwszego pobytu trafił do kochającego domu, gdzie spędził kilka lat. Mambo potrzebuje człowieka pełnego spokoju i cierpliwości. Dla Mambo szukamy domu: – znającego potrzeby psa, dającego mu przestrzeń – możliwe, że dogadałby się ze spokojnym, nienachalnym psem – bez małych dzieci

About Mambo

What life with Mambo looks like

Mambo is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
