Mambo

Male · Senior · 9 years

Mambo is an extremely sensitive and delicate dog who slowly, but fortunately consistently, is opening up to a new life and the joy of interacting with people. He has been with us since May. Previously, he lived as a village homeless dog, without contact with people, without a permanent shelter or food. In all this misfortune, that he fell into traps from which he miraculously was rescued may become his chance for a better life. He miraculously survived, miraculously did not lose faith in people, maybe also someone will believe in him? We have already managed to gain some of his trust, although it comes with great resistance - he has had to cope on his own all his life, I don't blame him for not wanting to run to caresses. He doesn't know what caresses are. Touching paralyzes him, so for now we don't touch him. However, we are already managing to take him out for his first walks. Slowly, close to people, cautiously exploring his surroundings, he sometimes searches through the grass, sometimes pecks at treats - it even happens that he takes them from a hand - he sometimes lies on the meadow. Everything is still cautious, still very withdrawn, but sometimes he has such nice sparks in his eyes, as if he is smiling a little, but is ashamed to show it. The animal shelter is the first place in his life where he is surrounded by care, he has peace and food guaranteed, no one wants to harm him. It can be seen that he is surprised and this positive surprise gives us hope that Mambo will open up to a relationship with a person in some time. It already happens that he approaches the yard caretaker for play and is sometimes happy. With small steps, we will make a brave dog out of him. If you have a place in your heart, a stock of patience and calm, time and a home in a cozy place - sharing this with Mambo you may save this dog's life. You will be the First Person. The First Person for him. I guarantee that this feeling will also change your life. I warmly invite you to meet, to fall in love, to share yourself. I will provide all information, help before and after the introduction and adaptation - let's show him together that a better life exists. polski English Deutsch Mambo to niezwykle wrażliwy i delikatny pies, który bardzo powoli, ale na szczęście konsekwentnie, otwiera się na nowe życie i radość z obcowania z człowiekiem. Jest z nami od maja. Wcześniej wiódł życie wioskowego bezdomniaka, bez kontaktu z ludźmi, bez stałego schronienia i pożywienia. About Mambo

What life with Mambo looks like

Mambo is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
