Mara (Brieda)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

MARA is a friendly and affectionate female dog who sticks by her favorite people through thick and thin. She is house-trained, doesn't destroy anything in the house, and enjoys walking in nature. She can also be left alone for a while in the company of another dog. MARA would like to become a village dog, as the many stimuli in the city overwhelm her. During walks, she is initially quite excited and is initially wary of strangers. The bond with her caregivers is all the stronger. She likes to be close and would certainly be the show dog in every agility course, as she is fast, eager to learn, and clever. A confident first-time dog owner would be welcome in the new home, and she would also be introduced to other animals. MARA can be visited in 99427 Weimar upon receipt of the self-disclosure. Contact: Marikamail: Our dogs are vaccinated (rabies and 2x basic immunization) are chipped and equipped with the EU pet passport are tested for the common Mediterranean diseases at our expense (we cover the laboratory fees): Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmaniasis, Rickettsia, Filaria, Hepatozoonosis, Anaplasmosis are only mediated against a deposit with a protection contract after a positive preliminary check (house visit). Important documents: Self-disclosure for adopters Self-disclosure for foster homes * The information on the dogs (especially the dogs that are still in Romania) is without guarantee. The recordings only represent snapshots. The dogs were recorded by voluntary volunteers to the best of their knowledge and belief. Therefore, there may be deviations in age, size, sex, health and also behavior. Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V.

About Mara (Brieda)

What life with Mara (Brieda) looks like

Mara (Brieda) is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. in Oberwies.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mara (Brieda), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mara (Brieda)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mara (Brieda) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mara (Brieda) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mara (Brieda) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mara (Brieda) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Lebenswert e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mara (Brieda) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
