Margaux

Female · Young · 1 year

Margaux Cheshire area Adoption fee is £400 1 year 8 months Mini Dachshund/ French Bulldog cross (6kg) Smooth black and tan Female, not neutered Margaux is a sweet little girl who is easy-going and loves sofa cuddles and playing. Her current owners’ circumstances have unexpectedly changed so they have made the difficult decision to seek a new home while she is a youngster so she can continue her great start with training and get the love and attention she needs. Margaux is a super-friendly dog who loves being around her people. She enjoys games and is a clever girl who has picked up basic training quickly. She loves visitors, possibly a little too much sometimes, but calms down if she is ignored at first and is then happy to be petted and played with. Outside the home, Margaux enjoys her walks although she is still learning her recall and is currently walked on-lead. She is a little bit anxious around unknown dogs and looks for reassurance, but as a young dog this is to be expected. Margaux is in excellent health, she is not a fan of going to the vet but her current owners have spent time getting her used to this and she is quickly improving. She sleeps downstairs in her bed, is toilet trained and can be left alone for short periods once settled. Requirements in a home: A home committed to continuing her good start with training A secure garden Older, calm children (age 10+) Could potentially live with another dog subject to a successful meet If you think you could provide the secure and happy forever home for Margaux, please get in touch with Fiona at

About Margaux

What life with Margaux looks like

Margaux is a young adult dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margaux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margaux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margaux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margaux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margaux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margaux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margaux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
