Margot

Unknown · Senior · 11 years

A very old duck and so, so in need of finding a family! Margot, a medium-sized mixed breed, about 22 kg, born in 2015, very sweet and lively despite her difficult past. This small female dog was taken by a volunteer from a very bad situation of detention, for 8 long years, in a tiny space among her feces, mistreated and subjected to every kind of deprivation. Today she is in a foster home in the province of Rome where she immediately showed her very sociable, lively and affectionate nature with people, even with children. With other dogs, with an extremely experienced supervision, she could live together, but we prefer to place her as an only child. Margot has excellent health and will be placed with medical documents that certify it. We are looking for a kind-hearted person who wants to offer her a peaceful and happy old age away from cages and boxes. We are sure that she will reward you with all her affection. She is in a private foster home in the province of Rome but we also place her in the north, after the necessary pre-adoption home checks, spayed, vaccinated, tested for leishmaniasis and obviously with a microchip. 328 003 45 08 You can also send an SMS or leave a message in the answering machine and you will be contacted as soon as possible.

About Margot

What life with Margot looks like

Margot is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Associazione ALFA in Roma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margot, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margot?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Associazione ALFA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margot on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margot if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Associazione ALFA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margot already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margot isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Associazione ALFA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margot and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
