adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Margrit has found her people! Her story: The curious Margrit is part of a special pack: the "Gang Seven." She is one of seven siblings who were abandoned together with their mother in the cold. Fortunately, they were found by our animal welfare workers* before something bad could happen. While her mother has already found a loving home, Margrit and her siblings are still searching for their forever homes. The charming Margrit enchants all with her dense, soft black fur and the striking, light markings on her snout, eyebrows, chest, legs, and paws. She shows herself as a friendly, curious, and brave puppy. Despite being only about 4 months old, she already appears very balanced and open to new experiences. She wants to explore the world and gets along well with her fellow animals. Currently, she is about 37 cm tall and weighs around 7 kg – she is expected to grow to a medium size. Due to her appearance, it is not out of the question that a guardian mix might be in Margrit – just like in her mother. Her new people should inform themselves about the character of this breed beforehand. They need a competent and reliable handler and should be allowed to engage in activities like fetch and hide-and-seek, agility, or similar to prevent underexertion and the problems that come with it. Positive dog training classes can be a great help – especially during puberty, when young dogs often question everything they have learned. Margrit has not yet experienced life in her own home, so she can learn the dog ABC with her new companions step by step. With her open nature, she brings the best prerequisites to settle in quickly. Margrit travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, as well as with an EU pet passport to her new home. Due to her young age, she is not yet spayed. After a positive Margrit is the sweet Margrit exactly the right one for you? Many thanks to Ker W.! You gave Margrit her special name and thus opened the chance for a safe home. As of: 20.09.

Vielen Dank an Ker W.! Stand: 20.09.2025

About Margrit

What life with Margrit looks like

Margrit is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Margrit, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Margrit?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Margrit on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Margrit if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Margrit already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Margrit isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Margrit and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
