adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Maria Theresia has found her home! Her story: Maria Theresia is a charming little Malteser-mix female dog with a shoulder height of about 25 cm and a weight of around 5 kg. The delicate female dog currently lives in a loving foster home, where she makes new progress every day and gains more confidence. She is a quiet and gentle female dog who still needs a little patience to arrive in her future family in peace. At first a bit timid, Maria Theresia now shows how brave she is: Her short moments of fear she can already proudly overcome. She has not been in Germany for long and has already become much more open. And day by day she becomes more trusting, orienting herself more to her primary caregiver and now even perceives being scratched as something wonderful. An existing only dog is particularly important for her, as she strongly aligns herself with a confident dog. With a dog friend by her side, she can already stay alone well and learns the everyday life much more easily. Maria Theresia is curious and eager to learn. She looks forward to attending positive dog training classes with her future people and continuing to discover the world. She already masters everyday things quite well – even stairs she already runs quite naturally. Maria Theresia is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas and may be adopted for an adoption fee of at least 500 Euro and a positive reference. For someone looking for a small, sensitive female dog who grows into a faithful companion with patience, love, and the support of an existing dog, Maria Theresia will find a very special friend. Thank you, Rosi M., for this special and noble name. Thanks to you, Maria Theresia can surely pack her suitcase soon. As of: 03.04.

About Maria Theresia

What life with Maria Theresia looks like

Maria Theresia is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maria Theresia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maria Theresia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maria Theresia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maria Theresia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maria Theresia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maria Theresia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maria Theresia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
