MARIECHEN

Female · Senior · 13 years

Our European Shorthair cat MARIECHEN came to us as a found cat. She is approximately 13 years old and is neutered. MARIECHEN is a friendly and people-oriented female cat who initially shows some shyness. Once she gains trust, she becomes very cuddly and affectionate. She can then be very temperamental and playful, so she seeks people who can give her a loving home and provide her with appropriate mental stimulation both physically and mentally. She is very talkative and likes to share her space with her people. MARIECHEN is suitable for families with older children starting around 12 years of age, provided that there is respectful animal handling. She does not get along well with fellow animals and thus seeks a place as a singleton princess in suitable apartment living. A fully enclosed balcony is necessary so she can enjoy fresh air and observe her surroundings safely. Mariechens had a skin fungus, but the treatment is completed, and her fur will grow back. -0Fax:

-0Fax: 089/90 73 20E-Mail

About MARIECHEN

What life with MARIECHEN looks like

MARIECHEN is a senior cat waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting MARIECHEN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MARIECHEN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MARIECHEN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MARIECHEN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MARIECHEN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MARIECHEN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know MARIECHEN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
