Spezialfall Magnolia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Magnolia is a very special case: She was born on January 30, 2014, and not only has her mother cared for her, but also her father and four other siblings. The mother has black-and-white fur, the father is white but not deaf. Two of the brothers are also white but not deaf. Only Magnolia, with her snow-white fur, is deaf. She is a charming kitten who would like to have her people all to herself; other cats disturb her or she will bully them. She does live with other cats because she has an enclosed garden where she cannot escape, as she is deaf. Actually, "cannot escape." But Magnolia always finds ways to leave the garden. The newest way is to climb the walls of the garden house to then search for adventures over the roof and outside the cat protection fence. Interestingly, she returns after a few hours. Unfortunately, there is too much traffic in the surroundings. We do not know why Magnolia does not reliably use the litter box. Therefore, she is not suitable for apartment living. We imagine a rural area where Magnolia can live in a barn or similar near the house with family connections and where she reliably receives her three meals a day. For the winter, we provide a heated cage room where she can sleep. She is already familiar with this. And in there, she also goes to the litter box. Of course, Magnolia is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed, and has been checked by a veterinarian multiple times. Testat: She is the blooming life. We would give Magnolia permanent care, meaning that we would cover any veterinary costs that may arise. Relocation radius: approximately 50 km around Hilden/Rhineland. About Spezialfall Magnolia

What life with Spezialfall Magnolia looks like

Spezialfall Magnolia is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. in Haan.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Spezialfall Magnolia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Spezialfall Magnolia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Spezialfall Magnolia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Spezialfall Magnolia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Spezialfall Magnolia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Spezialfall Magnolia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Erkrath e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Spezialfall Magnolia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
