Mario

Male · Young · 1 year

Mario – still a puppy, who is just learning about the world… Mario is a young puppy who is still discovering what life outside the shelter cage looks like. Every day, he learns new things and slowly gets to know the world. In his familiar environment, he starts to open up and shows that he is super sweet, loving, and very cheerful. He is increasingly willing to approach people and it is clearly visible that he really likes human contact. When he feels more confident, he releases all his joy – he asks for pets, cuddles, and shows his cheerful, affectionate side. He doesn't need much to open up – just a little calm, patience, and kindness. On walks, he makes progress – he observes, goes forward, and with each day gains more confidence. The most shy of the entire litter, but at the same time very receptive and ready for a relationship with a person. Unfortunately, the place where he ended up is definitely too difficult for him… most of the time he spends in the shelter cage, where his childhood passes – in noise and without stability. Mario came to the animal shelter together with his siblings and they share the same fate. Mario is looking for a quiet and understanding home — a person who will give him time, a sense of security, and a chance for a normal life. In return, he will give love, loyalty, and a heart that can be extremely tender and devoted.

PL·Show original

Do schroniska trafił razem z rodzeństwem i razem dzielą ten sam los.

About Mario

What life with Mario looks like

Mario is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mario, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mario?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mario on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mario if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mario already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mario isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mario and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
