Adopt Marley

Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Due to circumstances, this handsome 8-year-old Stafford can unfortunately not stay with his previous owner. Therefore, we are looking for a warm, loving home where he can once again enjoy life as a real family dog. Marley is a social, curious guy who loves being with his people. He has always lived in a family and knows the life at home well. Inside, he can calmly enjoy his spot, but as soon as the leash comes out... this strong guy can't wait to go on an adventure! 💪🐕 During walks, he can be enthusiastic, but with the right guidance, he also walks nicely beside you. He likes to learn and works well with someone who gives him clarity and structure. Marley got along well with the dogs in his own family. With other dogs, it depends a bit on the connection. Therefore, we are looking for someone with experience with dogs who can gently guide him in new meetings. A family with older children could definitely be a good match. He doesn't know cats or other animals, so a home without other pets is preferred. In short, Marley is a big cuddle with a strong physique, who is mainly looking for people who want to give him love, time, and clear guidance. In return, you get a loyal friend for life!

About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a large adult dog waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
