Marlin

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Marlin was found abandoned and dirty on a field. When he was shaved, a sweet little man emerged. He didn't have to wait long at the shelter and was able to travel to his foster home. Marlin is a straightforward male. He went on his first walk the next day and gets along with the two dogs already in the shelter. He enjoys playing alone, but when someone has time for him, he values human companionship. He drives easily and can be taken anywhere, including on trips and other outings. He has already had a veterinary visit, which he mastered well. He is not really used to being alone yet, so that needs to be practiced. Marlin can go everywhere, even to the office. Currently, Marlin is prescribed eye drops by the veterinarian due to tearing eyes. When he runs for a longer time, he sometimes shows a slight instability in his hind legs. The examination revealed that his kneecaps are not firm enough. Muscle building and possibly physiotherapy and physical exercises should be considered. We are looking for a home for Marlin with a garden and in a quiet environment with a family, even with children. A first dog is not necessary, but dog encounters and contact should be part of Marlin's daily life. Marlin is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, and de-fleaed. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can move to his new home against a deposit after a positive preliminary inspection. Would you like Marlin to be part of your family? Then please contact us!

About Marlin

What life with Marlin looks like

Marlin is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
