Marlo

Weimaraner · Male · 3 years

Hello, I am Marlo. I was brought to my animal shelter from a rescue because of an incident with a person. Since then, I have been working on developing myself, and with the right people by my side, I am sure to be a loyal companion. I am a very active and intelligent dog who enjoys working with my people and being mentally and physically challenged. Would you like to know more about me? I enjoy working together with my people, especially when it comes to improving my leash manners. I am motivated to learn with you and make progress. I also love hide-and-seek games, which help me stay engaged. Long walks in nature are nice, but I need more – tracking, obedience, or other nose work would be perfect for me. I already know the basic commands and am house-trained. Although I am not yet perfect on the leash, I am happy to work with my people to improve that. I am not yet good at walking calmly past other dogs. Male dogs are a big problem for me, while I am not interested in female dogs. With a bit of patience and training, this will surely change. I can pass by strangers without a problem – but if it gets too close, I can become stressed and turn around. Therefore, I should still be on a muzzle outside currently for everyone's safety. I would like a home in a quiet environment with very dog-experienced people who can provide me with clear, confident leadership. Physically, I should be on the taller side – at almost 40 kg, I am not a small dog. Despite my not-so-great past, I am an insecure dog who needs a lot of time to build trust. You should be active and take the time to work with me, giving me peace and security. Children are not allowed in my home, as there was an incident with a child before my rescue – unfortunately, children are not reassuring to me in general. A visit to a good dog training class is strongly recommended to help us both continue to grow. Why I am your chance: I am an intelligent and hard-working dog who will become a loyal companion with the right guidance. If you give me a home where I am mentally and physically challenged, I will be a loyal partner to you. Would you like to meet me? Then feel free to contact my shelter team at the phone number or fill out the application form as thoroughly as possible. We look forward to your message and getting to know you.

About Marlo

What life with Marlo looks like

Marlo is a large adult weimaraner dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires muzzle outdoors due to past incident with humans. Reactive to male dogs and strangers in close proximity. Needs patient, experienced handling.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
