adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Marlon has found a home! His story: The approximately 10–12 month old Marlon came to us because his owners moved away. Now, the poor fellow finds himself in a completely foreign environment and appears absolutely lost. The noise and chaos in the shelter additionally unsettle him. Nevertheless, he remains patient and hopes for someone who understands him and recognizes his lovable personality. Marlon often lies close to his hut – likely the only thing that gives him some security at the moment. He is still very shy, but a thoroughly friendly puppy who shows no aggression. Whoever stands calmly in front of his kennel and gently lures him forward will be rewarded with a few brave steps forward. It is clear that he is seeking proximity but still does not know exactly how to accept it. He seems to get along with other dogs. Cats are unknown to him. We are looking for a rural home for Marlon where he can settle in peace and develop at his own pace. He needs people who are experienced in building a dog's trust – empathetic, patient, and confident. Regular training sessions should also be firmly anchored in his daily routine, as Marlon has not experienced any training or house life so far. Additionally, he is in the middle of puberty, a time when dogs of his age discover their personalities and like to try things out. Marlon is a really handsome male dog, currently about 45–50 cm tall and weighing around 15 kg. His black-and-white, longer fur resembles a Border-Collie mix, so Border Collie genes are possible. This bond-forming breed is known for its energy and intelligence – a combination that, when properly nurtured, makes an unbeatable duo. Long walks and extensive play are therefore important for his well-being. Dog training classes or dog sports can also help to use his energy meaningfully and to strengthen his self-confidence. After a positive Marlon is full of potential and has his whole life ahead of him – who gives him a chance? Even a kennel would be of immense value to him. Many thanks, Ursula, for taking on his namesship. As of: 17.10. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 17.10.2025

About Marlon

What life with Marlon looks like

Marlon is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marlon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marlon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marlon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marlon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marlon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marlon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marlon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
