Maroussia

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 10 months

The lovely Scottish Fold cat Marouissa is an alert and cheerful lady cat whose lively and curious nature brings plenty of variety to her surroundings. She’s active, adventurous, and always eager to explore her environment. In doing so, she displays skill, attentiveness, and sometimes a touch of sass. Marouissa loves playing and enjoys engaging with anything that sparks her curiosity. Despite her vibrant side, she also appreciates quiet moments and likes to withdraw when she needs some peace and quiet. At first, Marouissa tends to be reserved around strangers and in new situations. She’s initially timid, shy, and uncertain, and may even react with sudden startle responses in unfamiliar settings. At the same time, she has a brave and independent character and makes her own decisions about when she feels comfortable and how much closeness she’s willing to allow. Petting isn’t one of her favorite things—Marouissa doesn’t like being touched and prefers to seek human company in her own reserved way. Even vet visits are stressful for her and can be quite challenging. We’re looking for a calm home for Marouissa, ideally in an exclusively indoor setting, preferably with a cat-safe balcony where she can safely observe the outside world and enjoy fresh air. A household with children is not suitable for her, as she needs a quiet and understanding environment. Since Marouissa is very social with other cats and has formed a close bond with her friend Miranda, we’d love to place her together with Miranda. The two complement each other wonderfully and would happily continue their life together side by side in their new home as well. Marouissa is the ideal companion for people who appreciate the special personality of an independent cat and are willing to give her the time and space she needs. If you’re not looking for a cuddly lap cat but rather a fascinating, strong-willed feline who deserves patience and respect, you’ll find an extraordinary companion in Marouissa.

DE·Show original

About Maroussia

What life with Maroussia looks like

Maroussia is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim beider Basel in Basel.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maroussia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maroussia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim beider Basel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maroussia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maroussia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim beider Basel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maroussia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maroussia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim beider Basel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maroussia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
