Martha

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Martha is a spayed mixed-breed female puppy born in July 2025, who was found with her seven siblings Morris, Marvin, Milton, Mandy, Marie, Margo, and Mirna on the landfill of the nearby town of Beocin and brought to the animal shelter in Svilos. Now the young puppy is looking for a loving family. Martha is a sensitive puppy who needs some time to gain trust in people. Even with people she already knows, she is still cautious and reserved. She wants to build trust, but needs an environment where she can feel safe and can arrive at her own pace. It is especially nice to see how much the company of other dogs helps her. In her presence, Martha really blooms and shows her cheerful and playful side. She becomes bolder, enjoys petting and eagerly takes treats from her hand. Then it shows how much joie de vivre is in her! Martha is a playful and active puppy who enthusiastically chases a ball and likes to be active. She gets along very well with other dogs, and her presence gives her stability and orientation. Her behavior towards cats and other animals is not known to us. We wish Martha a loving home with empathetic people who understand her needs, meet her with patience and give her the time she needs. A confident dog companion by her side would be a great support. She could orient herself, gain security and gradually learn to meet people with more trust and enjoy her new life. The shoulder height of the puppy is 46 cm and she weighs about 12 kg.

About Martha

What life with Martha looks like

Martha is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Martha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Martha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Martha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Martha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Martha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Martha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Martha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
