Adopt Marty

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Adult · 6 years

Marty is a handsome 6-year-old Jack Russell Terrier with a sweet nature and a love for adventure. He's looking for an adult-only home where he can enjoy a calm and understanding environment with owners who will help him continue building his confidence. One of Marty's favourite things in the world is playing with toys, especially tennis balls! He can become a little possessive over high-value items, so he's currently learning helpful skills such as "drop" and "swaps." His new family will need to continue this training and give him space when he has something particularly special to him. Marty would love a home with his own secure garden where he can safely enjoy time off lead and burn off some of his terrier energy. While he enjoys meeting and walking with dog friends out and about, he would prefer to be the only dog in the home so he can have all the attention to himself. This little adventurer is always ready to jump in the car and head off to explore new places. He has previously been left alone for up to four hours, although this may need a little refresher once he settles into his new home. To help Marty succeed, his adopters will need to attend training sessions at the centre before and after adoption. With the right guidance, patience, and understanding, Marty will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, fun-loving best friend.

About Marty

What life with Marty looks like

Marty is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Kenilworth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marty, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marty?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Kenilworth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marty on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marty if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Kenilworth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marty already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marty isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Kenilworth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marty and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
